Pregnancy:
Tattooing is not performed during pregnancy.

Chemical Peels:
Avoid chemical peels 2-4 weeks before and after cosmetic tattoo treatments.

Cosmeceutical Skincare:
Avoid products with AHA’s, Vitamin C, Benzoyl Peroxide, Vitamin A, and alcohol (6%+) at least 5 days before treatment and 2 weeks after. These may accelerate fading.

Injectables:
Avoid cosmetic injections at least 4 weeks before or after treatment to ensure even distribution and minimize bruising.

Eczema/Dermatitis:
Seek medical advice if you have skin hypersensitivity or dermatitis before cosmetic tattooing.

Allergies:
Inform Nadine if you have allergies to latex, rubber, medications, numbing agents, or Phenylalanine (PPE).

IPL/Laser:
Avoid IPL/Laser treatments at least 4 weeks before cosmetic tattooing. Do not perform IPL/Laser on tattooed areas.

LED Therapy:
LED therapy may aid healing and is beneficial post-treatment.

Facial Surgery:
Obtain doctor’s permission before treatment if you’ve had recent facial surgery.

Topical Vitamin A:
Avoid Retin-A, Tretinoin, Hydroquinone, and skin bleaching agents within 5 days of treatment due to increased sensitivity and scarring risks.

Alcohol:
Avoid alcohol 24 hours before your procedure to minimize bleeding.

Supplements:
Avoid fish oil, primrose, krill oil, ginseng, and gingko biloba for a week after treatment.

Medications:
Consult Jennifer if you’re taking Warfarin, Heparin, Aspirin, opioids (e.g., Endone), Prednisone, Roaccutane (within 8-12 months), or antibiotics.

Diabetes:
Delayed healing may occur; contact Jennifer before booking.

Cold Sores:
Lip tattooing cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore, as this can affect healing and results. The procedure may also trigger future breakouts. If you have a history of cold sores, it is essential to take an antiviral medication (such as Valtrex) before your appointment to reduce the risk of an outbreak, as this can impact your healing and pigment retention.

Radiation/Chemotherapy:

Exercise/Gym:
Avoid chlorinated/saltwater pools, high UV exposure, sunbeds, infrared light, and cardio workouts for 2 weeks post-treatment. Avoid excessive sweating, sauna, hot spa, and spray tanning for 48 hours post-treatment.

For best results and optimal healing, please carefully follow these instructions before your Lip Blush appointment:

• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E) for 24 hours before your appointment. These can cause excessive bleeding and poor pigment retention.

• No lip filler at least 4 weeks before or after your appointment.

• Exfoliate and moisturize your lips daily for 3-5 days prior using a gentle lip scrub and hydrating balm. Smooth, healthy lips help with pigment implantation.

• Cold Sores:

  • If you have ever experienced a cold sore (herpes simplex virus), you are strongly advised to consult your GP prior to your appointment regarding preventative antiviral medication.

    Lip tattooing can trigger a cold sore outbreak, even in individuals who have not had symptoms for many years, as the virus can remain dormant in the body.

    You may wish to ask your doctor about antiviral medications such as Valaciclovir (commonly known by the brand name Valtrex), which may be prescribed to help reduce the risk of an outbreak before and after treatment.

• No tanning, sunburn, or chemical peels around the mouth area for at least 2 weeks prior.

• Do not have facial treatments, Botox, or laser treatments near the lips for 2 weeks prior.

• Arrive well hydrated and eat a meal before your appointment to maintain stable blood sugar levels.

• Please inform us if you are on any medications or have any medical conditions that may affect healing.

• If you are sick, reschedule your appointment - your body needs to be healthy to heal properly.

• Discontinue use of Retinol, Vitamin A, AHA/BHA skincare products around the forehead area at least 2 weeks prior, as they thin the skin and increase sensitivity and bleeding.

• No Botox in the forehead area for at least 2-3 weeks before your appointment.

• Stay well hydrated and eat a good meal beforehand to keep your blood sugar stable.

• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Niacin, Vitamin E) for 24 hours before your appointment. These can cause bleeding and poor pigment retention.

• No tanning, sunburn, or excessive sun exposure on your face for at least 2 weeks prior. Skin must not be burnt, peeling, or irritated.

• Discontinue Retinol, Vitamin A, AHA/BHA skincare products on the face at least 2 weeks before your appointment. These ingredients thin the skin and can affect pigment uptake.

• No chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments on the face for at least 4 weeks prior.

• Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, moisturiser, SPF, or fake tan on the treatment area.

• Stay well hydrated and eat a proper meal beforehand to help your body heal better.

• Plan for downtime: Freckles will look darker and more defined during the healing phase (around 7–14 days) before softening.

• If you are prone to cold sores and requesting freckles around the lip area, you must take an antiviral medication (such as Valtrex) to prevent an outbreak.
